Connor Bedard has committed to the Chicago Blackhawks with a five-year contract extension, the team announced on Saturday afternoon. The contract’s average annual value ranks as the third largest in the league. Only Anaheim Ducks centre Leo Carlsson, with $18 million, and Minnesota Wild winger Kirill Kaprizov, with $17 million, have higher average annual values. The extension buys out one year of Bedard’s unrestricted free agency eligibility.

Kyle Davidson, the Blackhawks’ general manager, issued a statement regarding the signing.
