Tyreek Hill provides update on knee injury recovery, states ‘no power’ in left leg

Free-agent WR Tyreek Hill provides update after season-ending injury: 'No power in my left leg' - NFL.com

Hill’s Recovery Journey

Tyreek Hill, a free-agent wide receiver, recently shared an update on his recovery from a knee injury that ended his 2025 season. In a social media post on Wednesday, the former Miami Dolphins player indicated that he is feeling well but is not yet ready to provide a timeline for his return to play. Hill stated, “I ain’t going to tell you what my timeline is, but timeline looking real good right now, man.”

The update comes nearly 10 months after Hill sustained a significant knee injury on September 29 against the New York Jets. The injury involved a dislocated knee and tears to multiple ligaments, including his ACL. He underwent surgery the day after the injury.

Hill’s recovery process has included two surgeries over the past 10 months, with one being an LCL surgery in February. He has been documenting parts of his rehabilitation in a mini-documentary series on his YouTube channel called “Cheetah, Reborn.” The third episode, released on Wednesday, features Hill discussing his current recovery status and showing him engaged in various rehabilitation exercises.

In the video, Hill is seen rehabbing in a pool, running on turf, and working out on a basketball court. He acknowledged that it had been some time since he last ran and that his lower body is still undergoing development. Hill specifically mentioned, “My left leg is the one that I injured. I have no power in my left leg at all, so I’m trying to regain all the power back in my left leg. But it’s one day at a time.”

Challenges and Outlook

Hill recounted the initial prognosis from doctors following his injury, stating, “You know, they told me I might not be able to walk again, and the doctor is like, ‘Bro, we don’t know what’s going to happen with your future,’ and now look at me. God is good.” His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had previously expressed an optimistic outlook last month, noting that there was no nerve damage, blood flow issues, or broken bones, and that the cartilage was fine. The initial goal was for Hill to be ready to play in the next season, with hopes that only one surgical procedure would be needed.

Despite the challenges, Hill has been actively working on his recovery. He described his efforts to activate various muscle groups, including his quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves, along with stability and mobility work for his knee. He also admitted to pushing himself beyond recommended rehabilitation tempos, saying, “I’m not supposed to be doing tempo runs, so don’t tell my rehab, but I like to challenge myself a little bit.”

The Dolphins released Hill, who had one year remaining on his contract, earlier in the offseason as the team transitioned with a new general manager, head coach, and quarterback. Hill, who is 32, entered the league as a fifth-round pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. He spent six seasons with the Chiefs, earning three first-team All-Pro selections and contributing to a Super Bowl title. After the 2021 season, he was traded to the Dolphins, where he continued to perform at a high level, leading the league in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2023 and being selected to the Pro Bowl for eight consecutive seasons from 2016 through 2023.

Future Prospects

Hill’s decision to post a workout video as training camps are set to begin serves as a reminder to teams that he is still a free agent. While his agent stated last month that the goal is to get Hill back into shape before considering a landing spot, the receiver himself is focused on regaining his explosive abilities. “Just trying to get my explosion and my burst back, so whenever I step back on the field, it’s like none of it’s missing,” Hill said.

The veteran receiver remains unsigned, which may be due to teams assessing his health status. Given his age and the severity of his knee injury, there are questions about his potential effectiveness upon his return. However, Hill appears determined to make a comeback, despite not providing a specific timeline for his return to the NFL.

The 2026 regular season is less than two months away.
