These selections highlight their performances, pivotal plays, and game-breaking feats during the recent matchups.
The players were chosen by a panel comprising representatives from the CFL’s Football Operations, Player and Game Statistics, and Content departments. This marks Alexander’s third Player of the Week honour this season, having also received it in Week 2 and Week 4.
Alexander’s Record-Breaking Performance
Davis Alexander showcased a strong performance in the Alouettes’ 38-32 victory over the Stampeders. He completed 25 of 32 passes, achieving a 78.1 per cent completion rate. Alexander threw for 402 yards, marking his second game this season with over 400 passing yards. He also matched a career-high with three touchdown passes, including a 27-yard effort to Kaseem Ferdinand that secured the lead late in the fourth quarter.
Notably, Alexander did not throw any interceptions during the game, breaking the CFL record for consecutive pass attempts without an interception, now standing at 336. His efficiency rating for the game was 150.8, and he completed four passes of 30 yards or more.
Key Contributions from Theis and Mills
Travis Theis, the Alouettes’ running back, also played a significant role in Montreal’s win. He rushed for 123 yards on 19 carries, averaging 6.5 yards per carry, and scored a 16-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. This was Theis’s first career game with over 100 rushing yards, and it marked his fourth consecutive game with a major score. Additionally, he contributed 49 receiving yards on five receptions from six targets, converting three second downs, and accumulated 172 yards from scrimmage.
Despite the Stampeders’ loss, Dedrick Mills delivered a notable performance. He rushed for 130 yards on 15 carries, averaging 8.7 yards per carry, marking his third game this season with over 100 rushing yards. Mills scored a rushing touchdown to open the second-half scoring and added 38 receiving yards on three receptions from five targets. He also secured a 15-yard receiving touchdown that set up a game-tying convert late in the fourth quarter. This was his first game of the season with multiple majors, and he finished with 168 yards from scrimmage.
Through six games, Mills leads all running backs in the league with 85 carries and 524 yards. He has two scores along the ground and has recorded the first two receiving touchdowns of his career since his debut in 2022.
