The Elks’ kicker, Vincent Blanchard, played a crucial role in their win, successfully converting four of his five field goal attempts. Blanchard made kicks from 38, 26, 26, and 16 yards. These field goals were significant as the Elks frequently moved the ball into scoring position but often settled for field goals rather than touchdowns.
One notable defensive play occurred before the five-minute mark when Brice’s arm was clipped on a pass, leading to an interception by Gavin Meyer, which set up a 38-yard field goal by Blanchard.

Sean Whyte kicked a 19-yard field goal, narrowing the Elks’ lead to 19-17. The Elks’ defence held strong on the Lions’ final drive, turning the ball over on downs with 41 seconds remaining, allowing them to run out the clock.
With this win, the Elks moved into sole possession of first place in the West Division with a 5-1 record. The Lions, whose only win this season was a 36-24 victory against Edmonton on July 4 in Kelowna, B.C., remain in last place in the West with a 1-4 record. The Lions are scheduled to host the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, July 25.
